It’s Crazy Ingredient Challenge time!

What’s the Crazy Ingredient Challenge? It’s two ingredients voted on and chosen to use in a new creative recipe. This month I so left this to the last minute again….. again, I made it last night.  Time just got away from me again this month. Must be a summer thing. Anyway,  this delicious smoothie is perfect for summer. And it’s pretty too.

June’s Crazy Ingredient Challenge ingredients were Mango and Turmeric.

It’s been so hot here lately that I wanted to make something that was refreshing and didn’t heat up my  kitchen. That’s where a smoothie comes in. I used plenty of ice so it was cool and refreshing. Plus the addition of the crushed pineapple also gave it a tropical feel.

This combo was one of the easier one’s we have come up with. And I just love digging into my creative brain coming up with something unique. By far, my favorite has been my Avocado Kiwi Ice Cream with Caramel. But also a close runner up would be the Appetizer Meatballs with a Beer Barbecue Sauce. I make that one often for parties.

Turmeric is not one of the most commonly used spices. I’ve been told by countless friends how turmeric is beneficial for relieving arthritis pain. And since I have arthritis in my hands, I use it often. It was tasty and colorful when I made these Zucchini Cakes.  Turmeric is a powder made from a flower from the ginger family. Turmeric is used for flavoring and coloring in Asian cooking  and was once a fabric dye. So with that in mind, if you use it, be sure to wash your hands and wipe down the counter if you spill any.

My pineapple mango smoothie took me maaayyybeee 5 minutes to make. And it serves just one in a large glass or two if you feel like sharing.

I had the same thought in mind – what can I make that won’t heat up the kitchen? I’m impatiently waiting on my mango tree to have ripe mangoes so that I can make smoothies.

This is a combination of things I like. I like smoothies, mango, pineapple, and turmeric (excluding its taste :0)).

This would be great for summer or even a breakfast smoothie. When I do smoothies, I usually add pineapples as its base. Thank you for sharing this.

Although, you may want to recheck the nutrition facts on this. I’m not sure if this does have 0 calories.
