Disclosure: Stirrings offered me two mixers & two rimmers to enter their Holiday Mixology Cocktail Challenge. All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own. This Citrus & Fruit Explosion Martini will have your tastebuds dancing!
Holidays call for cocktails and this one is an excellent holiday treat. Perfect for Christmas, New Years and even Valentines day, this Vodka Martini will be the hit of your next party. Thanks to Stirrings Mixers, I was able to create a drink that’s perfect for many occasions.
Stirrings is having a Stir It Up Holiday Mixology Challenge and this martini is the recipe I entered into the challenge. I’m so excited about this! I love a good recipe contest and drink contests are a favorite, especially during the holiday season.
Stirrings has a huge selection of cocktail mixes and even rimmer garnishes. For the contest, Stirrings sent me two mixers and two rimmers of my choice. I picked the Blood Orange mixer and the Lemon Drop rimmer for this recipe. I wanted a bit of sweet, some tart and all around deliciousness.
I used a grapefruit flavored vodka for my martini. There are several on the market, some are clear and some have a pink tone to them. I used the clear kind in this recipe so I didn’t dilute the bright orange color of the mixer. And, I love the bright contrast of the yellow rimmer. I also added some of the edible gold flakes into the rimmer, but they’re a bit hard to see.

To make this amazing cocktail, fill a shallow dish or saucer with some of the vodka. Add the stars to the rimmer. Dip the rim of the glass into the vodka, then into the Stirrings Lemon Drop/star rimmer and coat it well. Next, mix the rBlood Orange Mixer, vodka and tonic and pour into the martini glasses. Drop in a few blueberries and voila! You have a delicious cocktail to enjoy for your special occasion.
If you’re wondering where I found the stars, I’ll tell ya. The edible gold stars can be found in any of the national craft and hobby stores in the cake decorating section. I think it added some nice sparkle to the vodka martini drink, don’t you think?
So there you have it. My submission to the Stirrings contest. Wish me luck! The winner gets a monetary award and well deserved bragging rights. :::Fingers crossed:::
