Onion Mizithra Bread #SecretRecipeClub

July 4, 2016

A savory bread with onion and mizithra cheese that is delicious and leaves you wanting more.

Onion Mizithra Bread that is truly amazing. Great flavor that goes with anything.

Happy Happy Monday to you!  Today is the Group A reveal day for The Secret Recipe Club.  I have probably been in this group almost a year. I’m loving this club and have met so many fun, creative food bloggers. This has to be one of my favorite Monday’s since we all reveal our recipes at once.  What’s this months yumminess? Onion Mizithra bread!

If you’re unfamiliar with the Secret Recipe Club here is a brief description. Each month, one member is assigned to another member from their group secretly (hence the name). That person selects a recipe to make and creates a blog post. Everyone in the group posts on the same Monday together and gets to see who had their blog and what recipe(s) they chose.  And since there are four groups, each Monday of the month is a new “reveal day.”
Call to action text in case your image doesn't load.

This month, my assigned blog was A Taste of Madness. Cathleen is a math nerd and baking enthusiast who loves chocolate. I’m so not a math nerd, but I do love some good chocolate. Her blog is full of delicious simple recipes that you can create in a jif.

I explored her blog with enthusiasm and found a lot of wonderful recipes from the Bacon and Cheddar Stuffed Pretzels to Jalapeño Popper Skillet Pizza. Oh my yum! I decided on a yummy recipe I can identify with; Onion and Mizithra Cheese Bread. Oh. My. Yum! This was amazing.

Oooh, this looks awesome! For some reason I feel like black pepper would be a good addition. Next time I see mizithra cheese at the grocery store, I’m going to buy it and make this bread!

This looks intriguing. I’ve never had Mizithra cheese, but will pick some up the next time I’m up in the ‘big’ city and try this.

A great SRC choice. This has been added to my list of things to make in the coming week: I cannot wait. I love a good bread such as this. Even more exciting is to use a cheese I have never had before

What a great bread! It’s such a coincidence that you chose this recipe with hard, Greek cheese for this month’s Secret Recipe Club and Sid made parmesan bread, with the Italian equivalent. I love the look of both of them, so maybe I won’t choose between them and will just make both. Did you find it difficult to find mizithra cheese?

It’s not the easiest thing to find. We have a local chain supermarket here in Utah called Harmon’s. I found it there and at Smith’s, which is a Kroger branded store. Also, if you have an Old Spaghetti Factory Restaurant near by, I think they sell it as well. Good luck! Thanks for stopping by.
