When I was a kid growing up and we would eat pasta. Lots of pasta. My maiden name is Italian so it was a given. We always enjoyed a homemade dinner each night. Mom didn’t like to cook all that much, but she did and it was always good. Mom, Dad, sis and I would eat together every night and talk about our day and tell stories. Those were great memories I’ll always cherish. Even though now it’s just hubby and I, I make sure we eat together every night and make new traditions.
Ragu Pasta Sauce is a tradition in my family. It’s the go-to pasta sauce Mom always went for. And it’s prefect to use on classic meals like spaghetti and meatballs or your favorite pasta casserole. And the new Homestyle sauces are thick & hearty but fresh in flavor and not heavy at all. And bonus, no artificial ingredients. I like the simplicity of this sauce and it is super good.
‘Simmered in Tradition” is what Ragu is all about. It started in Italy in 1914 when Assunta Cantisano left Italy, bound for America with little more than her family’s pasta sauce recipe to her name. I think the background of the Ragu company is pretty darn cool. She reminds me of my own grandmother who was her own success story. A lot of similarities there.
Ragu has five new flavors to choose from:
Homestyle Thick and Hearty Traditional Sauce
Homestyle Thick and Hearty Meat Sauce
Homestyle Thick and Hearty Four Cheese Sauce
Homestyle Thick and Hearty Roasted Garlic Sauce
Homestyle Thick and Hearty Mushroom Sauce
For my spaghetti bake, I used Ragu Thick & Hearty Roasted Garlic Sauce, with it’s rich bold flavor, vine-ripened tomatoes and herbs. And delicious garlic. It was the perfect compliment for this spaghetti bake. You can never have enough garlic as far as I’m concerned so this sauce was very appealing. And the cute garlic container in my picture? That too is a family tradition. My grandma had it, my aunt had it and now I have it. It will continue to be passed down.
This recipe is comfort food at is yumminess and it will bring back memories of sitting at the family table eating pasta. The spaghetti bake is for 6 servings, so Hubby and I had dinner and plenty of leftovers to take to work the next day.
Looks good! I love that there’s enough for leftovers. 🙂
