I love joining blogger groups with similar ideas. I already am part of a Crazy Ingredient group and now I’ve joined the Improv Cooking Challenge. This is a monthly party where everyone takes the same two assigned ingredients and lets their imaginations run wild. This is yet another way I can unleash my cooking creativity. I’m really excited about joining this group as I will get to know new bloggers and get more inspiration. This month’s challenge: Ham & Cheese.
Ham & Cheese go together well so I think the options were all over the place. For this challenge, I wanted to try something new for breakfast. I had some puff pastry in the freezer that was begging to be used so why not make Ham & Cheese Breakfast Pockets? After my success at using puff pastry for my beef wellington, I wanted to see if I was on a roll with using it right.
For this past weekend morning, Hubby and I wanted something fairly substantial to get us through the day of shoveling top soil out of the hauler and into the side yard. I don’t know if you have had the pleasure of non-stop shoveling, but if you have you certainly know it’s back breaking work and you don’t want to go into it on an empty stomach. This breakfast fueled us all the way through. Now we just have to get the dirt into the raised beds. Good times.
We had one heavy snowfall here and this would have been the perfect breakfast to get through it!
Yes, it’s perfect for snowy mornings. With a nice hot cup of coffee. Have a great Friday!
mmmmmmmmm — I wonder if my non-egg eater would try these? Those pockets look delicious!
