I have never been the best baker. I can’t seem to grasp the dessert concept at all. I would prefer to make something deliciously savory over anything sweet. But, there is something about this time of year…. something about Halloween that brings out the inner dessert-maker in me. Maybe it’s all the cute extras to decorate with or maybe not. I was going to bring out my Martha Stewart and make these fun ghost pies with ease.
I wandered into my local Walmart this past weekend to see what kind of treat I could scare up. If you haven’t gone into Walmart this Halloween season, you have to go now. They have so many Halloween items, costumes and baking items. I knew they would have just what I needed to make an easy spooky treat.
I found my inspiration for these pies in the Halloween decorating aisle and headed toward the diary section. I found Dannon® Greek Yogurt Oikos® Pumpkin Pie, which sounded absolutely amazing and perfect for the fall season. Right by it was a special floor case with Reddi-wip®. SCORE!! So cool to find them together, which makes for easy shopping. Thanks Walmart! Add Keebler® Ready Crust® Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crusts and I’m armed to make an easy dessert.
In years past, my once a year Halloween treats have been more on the cute side then the spooky side. I’m not sure what got into me this year………. Maybe it was a conversation with a co-worker who believes Halloween should always be bloody and scary? So I shifted gears this year.
With these three ingredients alone, you have a fun easy to make pie. But, who says you can’t add a little something? I added a 1/4 cup canned pumpkin to one yogurt and added 1/2 teaspoon of my favorite seasonings; cinnamon. The best part? No baking. I thought to myself, even I could do this! With my parrot in the background cheering me on, I got to work. Yes he really does talk and we had quite the conversation while I put the pies together. I need to teach him to say BOO!
All I had to do was lay out the crusts, spoon some of the yogurt & pumpkin mix into each shell then add a nice tall swirl of Reddi-wip®. It’s that easy.
Add the eyes, a knife and a drop or two of red food coloring, and you’re done. Easy peasy! The cool thing is the kids/grandkids can decorate how they wish and you can too. This dessert would also be good for a kids Halloween party or a quick after school snack. Or a late night snack after a long day at work.
If your kids don’t want to put a bloody knife in the head of the ghost, eliminate that and get different candy eyes. This is such an easy and fun dessert to make and the possibilities are endless.

There is something about this time of year that makes everyone crave sweets, that’s for sure! I love this spooky version that you created–it would also be the perfect way to use these pies for an adult Halloween party!
Thanks! I sure had a lot of fun making them and have a few other ideas for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
