When you were little, did you enjoy time with your grandparents? I sure did. My sis and I were spoiled rotten by both grandmothers and we would spend weekends with them cooking, eating (we were always eating), playing and so much more. Both grandfathers passed early in my childhood, and the grandmothers made up for it. These are memories I would cherish for a lifetime. Now things are different. WE are the grandparents and we got to spoil our 11 year old granddaughter Sireya when she flew to Utah in August for over a week And what fun we had!
We have 6 grandkids and they all live in Arizona and New Mexico so Hubby and I don’t get to see them as often as we would like. We would have loved a houseful on Grandparents Day, which was September 13th, but instead we were blessed an early grandparents week with Sireya. Having three little brothers herself, this was a nice break for her as she would get all the attention. And she’s the only grandDAUGHTER so let’s just say she was extra spoiled. It was an early Grandparents Day gift for us!
We did everything an 11 year old girl would love to do; toured the Living Planet Aquarium, Zip lined in Park City at the Olympic Park, took a rafting trip and more. Sireya likes to cook so I planned a couple of cooking “lessons” while she was here. These were the memories I have of my own childhood and I wanted to make this extra special for both of us.
It started with matching aprons. Yep, this girl is such a doll and deserved a cute little apron to wear while cooking. She was overjoyed! Our first culinary adventure was canning peach jam……and she picked the recipe. Now canning jam can be a hot sticky mess but we were undeterred! We were diving right in!
Loading the jars with the hot peach jam is the messiest and Sireya sure isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty! She had plenty of peach drippings on her apron and so did I. It was so precious to share this canning experience with her. She did all the steps; from ladling the jam into the jars, wiping the rim, checking for headspace then loading the jars up into the canner. When it was done, she wanted to taste it right away however when canning, you need lots of patience. We couldn’t touch the jars for 24 hours!
With all the cooking we did this week, we needed something that’s going to remove the inevitable stains AND keep the aprons looking pretty. We must have washed them at least three times. So, it’s time to bust out the Clorox2®.
When you pair Clorox 2® Stain Remover & Color Booster with your favorite detergent, you can actually remove four times more stains and brighten two times more than using detergent alone. I certainly didn’t want our cute bright cupcake aprons to fade in the first week! We let the peach mess dry on the aprons since we were having so much fun. But, Clorox2® proved to be a super hero for them and got that mess out in the first wash. That means more time in the kitchen making memories and less time worrying about laundry. And with as much cooking as she and I did, Clorox 2® Stain Remover & Color Booster was our third chef in the kitchen.
Who wants to spend time doing laundry when you can have fun with the grandkids? Here are my tips for getting the most out of your time with them and less time in the laundry room.
- Get the stain treated asap. The hot sticky peach mix came out faster by treating it right away. You’ll get more life out of your clothes and keep them looking good too. Clorox2® removes four times more stains than detergent alone.
- Don’t overload the washer. Your clothes won’t get clean and you may have to repeat the load. Who wants to do that??? I’d rather be at the swimming pool with Sireya then rewashing clothes.
- Pre-sort your clothes. That extra step saves lots of time.
Just like the times I spent with my grandmother, we spent a lot of time in the kitchen. The memories of me and “Danu” (what we called my grandmother) are priceless and so were the memories made with Sireya. I took the entire time off work and we had an amazing week.
We didn’t spend all the time indoors. We went rafting on the Weber River and rode the train downtown to the farmers market. The ten days she was here were memorable and something I will cherish forever.
Between dried sticky peaches, pasta flour and everything else we got on those aprons, Clorox2® conquered all the stains. Learn more about how incredible Clorox 2® really is! The Clorox 2® Stain Remover & Color Booster Liquid can be used with both standard and High-Efficiency washing machines. It IS the superhero of stains.
