Tyson Cornish Hens and Kikkoman Orange Sauce make a great pair for an easy weeknight date with the hubby

We are smack dab in the middle of grilling season and I can tell you this is my favorite season of the year! Hubby always grills but on this occasion, I wanted to do the grilling and give him a relaxing date night. We live outside during the warm summer months and our grill gets quite a workout, even on the busiest of weekdays. I’m always looking for a new adventure on the grill and Tyson® Cornish Hens are the adventure we were looking for. Add a marinade made with Kikkoman® Orange Sauce and you have a winner winner chicken dinner.

I was looking for just the right meal to make for a fun weeknight “date night” with the hubs and wanted to think outside the cookbook. What do I do? Recently, when shopping at my local Walmart, I found Tyson® Cornish Hens in the open freezer case by the meat section. They are all natural with no artificial ingredients or preservatives and no added hormones or steroids, which I like. And there they were, calling my name.

Thanks to Kikkoman® Orange Sauce, I knew just what to do to make this even more special. I headed over to the Asian aisle at Walmart to pick up a bottle of the citrus-y good sauce and planned to use it as my marinade for the bird. With Kikkoman® sauces and marinades, there many varieties perfect for the grilling season.

When I was ready for date night, I split the bird in half before marinating so it could soak up all the flavor before putting it on the grill. I then dropped it in a plastic bag and let it marinate in the fridge overnight.

Tyson® Cornish Hens are actually quite easy to grill and they come out tasting better then you could expect, especially soaking in the marinade I made the orange Sauce. Tyson® helped me create an awesome, weeknight outdoor date for hubby and I.

To get date night started off right, I first set up a nice tablescape with some fresh flowers. Then a bottle of wine before putting the hen on the grill. It’s just 20 minutes on each side over medium high heat to get this grilled to perfection.

Our grilled hen turned out great and it made for a special night outside having a delicious dinner. The ease of preparation allowed us to spend time together and we were able to put away the smart phones, turn off the TV and take time for each other. With the busy lives we all lead, it’s good to get a timeout once in awhile and Tyson® Cornish Hens made for a enjoyable experience that we are sure to repeat.

Mmm, this looks awesome! I love the orange sauce too. I totally need to try this out before grilling season comes to an end. I can’t wait until next year when our house is finished and we can grill all the time. We will have a covered patio so we can grill all year long. Definitely saving this one for later!

This looks delicious! I’m a vegetarian, so I wouldn’t use this exact recipe, but I definitely want to get some of that orange sauce to use with vegetables. It looks amazing. Thanks!
