Steaks with Pineapple Rosemary Topping. Sweet & savory with caramelized onions and brown sugar.
Welcome everybody to the June edition of the Crazy Ingredient Challenge! What is the Crazy Ingredient Challenge? The challenge is to create a recipe with two unique ingredients that are not traditionally cooked together. We’ve had some fun combinations in the past and I just love seeing what the ingredients turn out to be. Spearheaded by the lovely Dawn at Spatula’s On Parade, this is one group of talented chef’s who come up with these recipes each month. Want to know what June’s challenge is? Well, hold on to your hats…. It’s pineapple and rosemary!!!
I cheated and used canned pineapple. I know, I know….I wanted to use crushed and time constraints kept me from running to the store. We’re not growing pineapple this year or I would have used picked a fresh one.

Incredible!! I had no idea how this would turn out. I love rosemary with my steak and I also enjoy topping my steak with the onions. Adding the brown sugar and pineapple gave it a sweetness that was savory at the same time. I should have made a double batch since hubby and I were basically fighting over who gets more.

Lori that sounds great and different, which I love. I bet this would be delicious on pork chops grilled as well.
