Western Cedar Planks Review & Recipe #grilling

March 12, 2015

I received this product in exchange for an honest and objective review.  All opinions are 100% my own.  I only review products that I feel will benefit my family and my readers.

It’s grillin’ time!! The weather is warmer and after a cold winter cooped up inside, it’s time to head to the great outdoors. Burgers, dogs, salmon… you name it and it winds up onteh grill. I really enjoy cedar salmon at casual dining restaurants and wanted to try this at home. I got to do just that recently with Western Cedar Grilling Planks.

Western Cedar Grilling Planks come in a package of 8 and are made in the USA. You can re-use the planks several times before they lose their quality so it’s not a “use and toss” type product. I like that.  They measure 15″ x 5.25″ x 3/8″+ size is perfect for using multiples, but you want to separate meat and veggies. They are made from beautiful, high-quality Natural American Western Red Cedar!

I talked earlier about cedar plank salmon at a nice restaurant. The dish has a nice flavor to it and the salmon is juicy. The planks are not just for salmon. You can use them to cook other meats and veggies. You do need to plan ahead if this is your dinner choice since you need to soak the plank in water for about 2 hours prior to grilling. This absorbs lots of water so when you cook your food, the smokey flavor comes through.

Next time you grill, try using cedar planks with your food. They give off a smokey flavor to your meats or fish. Soaking them first keeps them from burning.

You can use the Western Cedar Grilling Planks on both gas and charcoal grills and it’s best if cooked when the lid is closed so the smokey flavor does not escape. As they are heated they release a one-of-a-kind spicy, smokey flavor into the food cooked on them. These are super easy to cook with and the smoky flavor enhances the food.

When I used them the first time, I made my favorite salmon. I didn’t do too much to the salmon to season it, just salt and pepper with a pat of butter. After soaking my plank and heating up the grill, I placed the plank directly on the grill grates, shut the lid and left it alone for about 15 minutes. The result? A beautifully cooked piece of fish that we thoroughly enjoyed. The food is cooked directly on the plank and it really takes in some nice flavor.

Next time you grill, try using cedar planks with your food. They give off a smokey flavor to your meats or fish. Soaking them first keeps them from burning.

Western gives a 100% money back guarantee so if you’re not satisfied with it, they will refund you fully. This is a USA made product and 100% of the wood used for the Cedar Grilling Planks are harvested from a forest managed for sustained yield. You can’t ask for more then that. Western Cedar Grilling Planks are sold exclusively on Amazon so head on over and pick up a pack today.
