Are you still struggling on gift ideas for friends and family? I was too and looked at some of the gift guides I found on the net. I think I’m about done, but I wanted to take this opportunity to help you with your list and give you an idea of my favorite things that I think all cooks and foodies should have in their kitchens. I have all of these and I wanted to share them with you.
KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer – Yes, it’s not cheap but as far as I’m concerned it was money well spent. This appliance is the star in my kitchen and does a lot of the heavy duty kneading and mixing that saves my hands from additional arthritis pain. Also, it has many attachments such as the ice cream maker and pasta/ravioli that it is an all around amazing appliance. Mine is the Gloss Cinnamon color that I don’t think they make any longer but with all the color options, there is something there for everyone. And right now you can Save 10% of Your Entire Cart and free shipping on orders $75 and up at the official online store of KitchenAid. Use Promo Code A10SHIP
Pampered Chef Mandolin – I bought mine years ago and it’s still going strong. I use it about once or twice a week and it easily slices potatoes, onions and more. It also has a grater attachment too. I think every cook of every level needs one of these.
Food Vacuum Sealer – If anyone you know cooks in bulk and freezes food for later, this is a must have for them! I have both a Ziploc Vacuum Sealer Systemand a FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System and I love them both. If you do a lot of freezer meals, this is necessary.
Silicone Muffin/Cupcake Pan – These were recently discovered when I had the opportunity to review them. I have both the standard cupcake size and the mini size. They are amazing to bake with. Plus, they cool down so much faster then the metal variety so you can pop your food out of them without burning your hands. Plus clean up is a breeze.
Immersion Blender – Hubby surprised me with one of these a couple of years ago and I use it all the time. If you know a cook who likes to make sauces and smooth out those lumpy mashed potatoes, an immersion blender is the way to go. I have a miallegro 9090S MiTutto Professional Style Immersion Hand Blender and I find it effective and easy to use.
Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons & Cups – These last so much longer then their plastic cousins and the brand I have is KitchenMade for the cups and Natizo for the spoons. I love the cups since they have a flatter bottom and they don’t tip over easy. Plus they store really well and don’t take up a ton of drawer space. The spoons are all connected together so they don’t get lost easy. They too store well.
Rubbermaid Clear Storage Containers – The emphasis here is clear. No one wants to rummage through the fridge and guess what’s in an opaque container. Plus, they stack nicely and the lids snap together making for easy storage without scrambling for lids.
Food Thermometer – This is a must have for any cook. Who wants to cut into a nice steak to ensure it’s done to your liking? I don’t! A food thermometer will take the guess work out of wondering if your meal is done.
SodaStream– You’ve all heard me sing the praises of a Soda Stream machine. I have the Source model in white. I got mine at Wal-Mart last year and use it almost daily. There are many flavor additions too so every member of the family can make the one they want. Less waste with all the bottles if you’re “green minded.”
So there you have it. Some of my all time favorite and frequently used kitchen must haves that make great gifts for family and friends. Have other ideas for this list? Drop me a line and I can add it.
