I have become a big fan of silicone cooking and baking products and I find them easy to clean and the food bakes evenly. I received this opportunity to review the Bakers Mat and I eagerly jumped all over that. This little mat fit perfectly in my cookie sheets and cleaned up faster then you can imagine.
Just what is the Bakers Mat?
The Baker’s Mat is a silicone mat that you place on a cookie sheet, replacing the need for parchment paper and cooking sprays. FDA approved, dishwasher safe, also cleans easily with soap and water. Lays flat, great for baking cookies, rolling dough, making candy or pizza dough.
Safe for the microwave, freezer, dishwasher and all types of ovens — good at temperatures from -40°F to 480°F (-40°C to 249°C).
Dishwasher safe? Well count me in! And the idea that it replaces parchment paper is even better. No more buying roll upon roll that you use and toss. Less waste and great for our environment. Love “green” products that reduce trash. And the money savings is an added bonus.
When I first used it, I made garlic and herb slider buns based off a recipe from Of Cabbages & King Cakes bun recipe. I chose this because the buns could be ready in 30 minutes and I wasn’t in the mood to go to the store. I took it up a notch by adding fresh garlic and parsley to the recipe because, quite frankly, garlic goes in anything. Just sayin’.
Garlic & Herb Slider Buns – Ready in 30 Minutes
|Prep time||20 minutes|
|Cook time||10 minutes|
|Total time||30 minutes|
|Website||Of Cabbages & King Cakes|
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 Large egg (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh garlic (more if you love garlic)
- 1 teaspoon parsley
Add chopped jalapeño for more kick
The buns baked up great! They were quite dense, but so full of flavor. I think next time I’ll reduce the flour by about a half cup, but they took our grilled sliders to a new level with the flavorful bun. The bread didn’t stick to the mat at all, I didn’t need cooking spray or anything. How about that? Even less mess to clean up. It rinsed right off. Stay tuned next week for the slider recipe…. I know, such a tease.
I find the Bakers Mat to be a great addition to my kitchen. It’s a breeze to transfer food from mat to plate and it’s a snap to clean up, which is always a plus for me. Plus, it stores nice and flat so it doesn’t take up a ton of space. If you have a small kitchen, you’ll appreciate that feature.
You can purchase your own Baker’s Mat on Amazon. They offer a 100% guarantee on their product but you won’t need to worry about that. You’re going to love it just as much as I do. Can wait to make cinnamon rolls… that sticky mess will now be easy to clean up! YAY!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
