Have you heard the buzz about the “Build Your Kitchen Drawer Sweepstakes” from Good Cook. It starts soon and runs from June 2, 2014 to July 14, 2014. It’s a great sweeps! All you need to do is visit goodcook.com and build the ideal Kitchen Drawer filled with all your favorite Good Cook tools and gadgets. Then, enter for a chance to win EVERYTHING you selected. Is that amazing or what?
I recently received five awesome kitchen gadgets from Good Cook. They are:
Safe Cut Can Opener – This item is the bomb. With the arthritis in my hands, I need tools that are easy for me to use yet effective enough to get the job done. This can opener has it all. It opens the cans smoothly and easily and for me, no pain.
SMART Ice cream scoop – Again, this product makes scooping ice cream or sorbet a breeze. I love the shape of the handles and I can grip it without arthritic pain. And with as much ice cream Hubby eats, this product is a need more then a want.
Flip Measuring spoon: Talk about a great space saver in your drawer. Are you like me and have dozens of measuring spoons? Well, with this you can measure four different amounts with this one spoon. There are 1 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, 1 Tablespoon and 1/2 Tablespoon sizes. This is great since these are my most frequently used measurements. Just push the silicone bowl of the spoon one direction or the other for your needed size.
Pot Clip Holder: Now, I have no kitchen counter space… I mean it’s tiny so when I have three to four pots going at once, there isn’t really any place for me to three to four spoon rests. This little gem clips on the side of the pot and keeps you wooden spoon right there, not on the counter taking up precious space. How about that? Love it!!
Egg Separator: Like the pot clip holder, this separator also sits on the edge of the bowl, leaving your hands free to crack the egg and drop it into the separator. You no longer have to be some kind of super flexible contortionist to get your eggs separated. This one is easy peasy.
Good Cook wanted us bloggers to make a one pot recipe using our fun new tools. With Hubby still being the one armed man AND the fact he was craving sorbet, I choose to make a triple berry sorbet for him. My one pot is my ice cream churner attachment to my Kitchen Aid Mixer. Plus, I was very eager to use the ice cream scoop.
Triple Berry Sorbet
3 cups frozen triple berry fruit blend
1/4-1/2 cup Kristian Regale Black Currant Sparkling Juice
1 1/2 cups Simple Syrup
Simple Syrup
2 cups water
2 cups sugar

Directions In your blender, add the frozen fruit, and sparkling juice. I used just over a 1/4 cup of the juice. Hit the Liquify button and blend until smooth. Cover and chill for 2 hours in the fridge.
Bring the water to a boil in a medium sauce pan and add the sugar. Stir until dissolved. Place in a plastic container and chill in the fridge for 2 hours.
Once your two hour time is up, add both to your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturers directions.
Place the sorbet in a freezer friendly container and freeze 2-4 hours (2 if you like it smoother). Scoop and serve!
Love sorbet especially when it gets hot outside.
