Doesn’t it seem that Pinterest is showing a lot of various jalapeño popper recipes? Or is it just me since I love me some poppers!! In any case, the other day I was on Pinterest and saw recipes for jalapeño popper pizza and bacon wrapped poppers. Well that got my craving going. But I can’t just eat poppers for dinner??….. or can I? Hubby was in the mood to grill burgers for dinner so I thought, why not make jalapeño popper burgers?
I love the creamy spiciness of the jalapeño popper so much. It’s one of my favorite snacks to have at parties and restaurants and now it’s going into the middle of my burger. I wish I had some fresh peppers to roast beforehand but I always keep a jar of the jalapeno rings in the fridge because I love to spice things up. With those, some cream cheese and my hamburger, I was ready to to make jalapeño popper burgers…. with the addition of some bacon!

The burger looks huge doesn’t it? Well it plumped up nicely while cooking so they turned into “Dagwood Jalapeño Popper Burgers.” But I was able to eat it. Quite delicious I might add and it cured the cravings for some poppers. And it was so simple it would be a recipe I would use for an outdoor barbecue party as the weather warms up. Since this was a big burger, I skipped the fries or potato salad and just had a side green salad with it. It really didn’t need anything else.
As if the burger didn’t have enough cheese, I also added cheddar to the top… ok, maybe it was cheese overload at this point, but it just didn’t look right without that cheddar on top. Cut in half, you can see all the oozy gooey popper center. I think next time I’m going to add more jalapeño rings since I would prefer mine with some more heat.
I hope you enjoy the jalapeño popper burgers as much as I did.
