I’ve seen posts for fruity hand pies all over Pinterest and Facebook lately and thought it was time for me to make some of my own. What I like about it is that you can fill them up with just about any fresh fruit you have and they will come out uniquely different each time. In this case, I short-cutted the process with Great Value refrigerated pie crust, canned peaches and frozen blueberries. I had it all on hand so no running to the store for last minute ingredients. And a splash of whiskey gave it an exceptional flavor and these peach blueberry hand pies were the hit of the night.

Golden brown on the outside and fruity deliciousness on the inside, these peach blueberry hand pies are so good! And they are great on the go too if you crave something sweet and are running out to drive kids to soccer or another activity.
Hubby has the sweet tooth so what was his verdict? He dove right in and I had to hide a couple just to take these pictures! I do not have the same sweet tooth he does and do not eat a ton of desserts, but I loved these. They tasted so fresh even though I used canned and frozen fruit. The fruit flavor combined with the extracts and whiskey was delicate and not overly sweet. If you live in a non alcohol house, you can add a bit more almond extract for some added flavor. Either way, they are amazing.
If you want to make mini-hand pies, cut the pie crust into eight pieces and divide the mix accordingly. You can also make this one big pie if you choose. The hand pie possibilities are endless!
