Football Food: Slow Cooker White Chicken Chili
Football season is here, which means it’s time to treat yourself to spicy wings, cheesy dips and beefy, easy chili recipes. Lazy Sundays spent watching football on the couch call for hearty, stick-to-your-ribs meals and snacks to keep even the hungriest football fans satisfied and energized throughout the game. Forget light salads and delicate appetizers; football food calls for protein, and lots of it!
There are dozens of football food options out there, from seven-layer dip to buffalo wings, but none quite as popular as chili. Whether you load up your chili with beans, turkey, beef or chicken, it’s always packed with protein to keep you full and feeling good this fall. And because chili is typically made with a tomato or broth base rather than cream or cheese, you won’t even feel guilty when you go back for seconds.
Chili is also great because it’s so easy to make for a crowd if you’re having people over to watch the game; just grab a larger pot to fit a doubled or tripled recipe. Leave it simmering on the stove or in the slow cooker throughout the game so everyone can serve themselves—there’s no cutting or portioning necessary! Providing a toppings bar of foods like cheese, jalapenos, sour cream and green onions is an easy way to allow each person to customize his or her dish without any work on your part!
This recipe for slow cooker white chicken chili is the perfect recipe to make the next time you plan on spending all day watching the big game or on any brisk evening when you’re craving something warm and filling. Even if you’re not too familiar with how to make chili, this recipe is so easy that it’s practically impossible to mess up. You probably have all of the ingredients in your cupboards already, so try it out soon and enjoy!
Slow Cooker White Chicken Chili
Serves: 6
Prep Time: 15
Total Time: 8 ¼ hours
- PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
- 2 cans (15 oz. each) Great Northern beans, undrained
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1 can (10 oz. each) Ro*Tel® Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained
- 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 3/4 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
Spray inside of 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place 1 can of beans in slow cooker; mash with potato masher or spoon until smooth. Add second can of beans and all remaining ingredients to slow cooker; stir to combine. For a thicker chili, drain one of the cans of beans before adding.

Your football food title caught my eye! I’m the wife of a football coach and mama to two boys, so this time of year we are football crazy at our house!! I love crockpot meals this time of year because they can be really filling, but are ready when you get home to make practice and game nights much easier! Thanks for sharing! Pinning and definitely trying soon!
