Welcome to Tickle My Tastebuds! So glad you’re here this week. If you have a garden, I’m sure it at it’s peak right now. It seems this time of year, I have tons of tomatoes and more giant zucchini than I could ever wish for. That’s what makes this weeks features awesome. They are recipes for your abundant gardens!
Sorry this is late this week…. I’m usually much more timely. I’ve been in a class three times a week for the last few months and last night ran long and before I knew it, I was in bed and this wasn’t done. YIKES!!
I have grown a garden every year since I’ve been in this house. Since the dirt is rather hard in ouir side yard, I opted to use raised beds. I have four 4×8 beds and one herb garden that is slightly smaller and raised higher off the ground. Using a raised bed garden is a bit different than planting the veggies right in the ground but nonetheless, you can still get a good harvest.
This year, I planted tomatoes, three different squashes, three different peppers, eggplant, tomatillos and cucumbers. I also had some potatoes and shallots sprout up from last year so that was a pleasant surprise. I even tried my hand at corn this year. I had tried it once before with no luck, but this time I have at least 6 ears coming in. The first one I picked was interesting… not all the kernals were formed, but it tasted good. I’ll pick some more this weekend and let you know how it goes.
So sit back and check out our features. I hope you enjoy these!
