How about some crunchy baked onion rings with a kick? These were soaked with Moore’s Buffalo Blue Cheese Wing Sauce for an extra burst of flavor!
Onion rings… one of my all time favorite side dishes. I order them whenever I get a burger craving since they are the perfect side dish for that. But I also like to make them at home, adding in whatever ingredient suits my mood at the moment. This time I was looking for something to give them a kick and Moore’s had just what I needed.
During the spring and summer months, we grill a lot; steaks, chicken, fish, you name it. If it can be cooked outside, it is. Onion rings are a great side dish for grilled foods. Yes, they do take a little bit of work, but they are well worth the effort. For this recipe, the key is to soak your rings in buttermilk for a couple of hours before baking. But, this time I added a half cup of Moore’s Buffalo Blue Cheese Wing Sauce in with my buttermilk. Totally worth it.
If you’ve been reading here awhile, you know how I like to have an adventure in the kitchen. This includes new foods and ingredients with some heat. Hubby is not into the spice foods as much as I am but he’s a good sport since he tries anything I make. He even said he wants business cards that say “Lori’s Culinary Creations Official Taste Tester.” His birthday is in September so maybe I’ll make a few for him.
There are many varieties of onions out there but for onion rings, I think the yellow onion is the best. They cook up nicely and they pick up the flavor of whatever you are using in the buttermilk and the coating. Personally, I think these are the best onions to cut up for rings. Now, let’s get cooking!
